On Thursday I went to the Bochum Zoo and I was shocked to see all of the similarities between their zoos and zoos I have been to in America. When we first entered, I saw that the zoo was split into three parts organized by where the animals present in those sections hailed from. There was Asia, Alaska, and Africa, increasing in size with Africa being the largest. We began with Asia as it was raining andAsia has the most indoor areas where we first saw giant bats and red pandas. Once we were down with Asia we moved to Africa where we took a boat tour and saw animals like orangutans, hippos, and meerkats. While we ate lunch in Africa we even saw rhinos fighting right next to us. Finally, we walked over to Alaska after eating currywurst and rode a small igloo ride and saw polar bears and an American navy bus used as a prop. At the end of Alaska we walked to the petting zoo and got to pet lambs and baby goats. Most of the animals I saw throughout the day were ones that I had seen before in American zoos and was surprised that the set-up was similar in the sections like zoos such as Animal Kingdom.
