On Thursday 29 of May 2025, my host family took me to the Visiodrom in Wuppertal. Currently they’re exhibiting Vincent Van Gough, so that’s who I saw. I think the Visiodrom is a large art museum, but I haven’t heard anything about it from other people, so I can’t know for sure. On the bottom floor was what felt like a maze; winding corridors of art with blocks of words. As I don’t know very much German, I had to use the automatic translator on my phone’s camera. Based on the few bits of text I had time to translate before having to move on, it was the progression of Van Gough’s life; starting with his first painting, and ending with his commissions. On the next floor was a very large room with bean bags placed along the circular walls and projectors in the middle. What followed was a progression of Van Gough’s pieces projected onto the walls, accompanied by music, and ending with a loud echoing bang. After the show we climbed the stairs outside to the top of the building (never again), took photos of the surrounding city, then took the elevator down. The area we entered to was a curving hall with interactive exhibits and photo ops. Once we finished the walk through, we left back to the car.
