The caves were cool. When we got there it was raining really hard so we ran to get to the building where it was dry. The drive there was not bad. I saw a herd of horses grazing in a large field. They were really pretty. When everyone from the group had made it to the building we got together so we could get our tickets and start the tour. The cave was chilly due to it being low in the ground and because of the rain. The wall above the opening has the date of when the caves were discovered which if I remember correctly is 1803. Certain spots in the cave hold rocks that are drip rocks , these rocks cannot be touched at all or the drip will be messed up and they wouldn’t be able to grow anymore. They are kind of like the drip sandcastles my uncle taught me how to make. It takes 100 years for the rocks to gain 1 centimeter. Some of the rocks in the cave look like they have faces or even just arms. I saw one rock the looked like it was giving the finger (flicking us off), it was funny. Many of the rocks had different colors on them because some had algae growing on them. Some rocks looked like curtains or like an accordion. The deepest spot had such amazing acoustics, they put in a little stage made from rock so that people could have fun. One of the spots we saw had a fossil from a bear that had possibly lived in the caves. The water that has been captured in circular holes/dips in the rock was so clear. It was like glass or crystal. You almost couldn’t tell that it was water. Some of the walkways had lower ceilings and some of the taller guys (not saying names) weren’t paying attention and they hit their head. It was kinda funny (after we made sure they were ok). When we were done with the tour I looked in the gift shop and I found this really pretty stone that reminded me of my sister. It’s called a Sandrosen and I loved how much it looked like a rose so I got it for my sister. It is made when sand hardens due to chemical reactions within the sand. The caves were fun to lear about. I hope my sister likes the rose!!
