On the 23rd we had our welcome dinner where all of the girls had to arrive early and prepare the cafeteria for eating. When everyone arrived we began to eat and the food was incredibly good, but it was different from what I normally eat in America. It was many pasta salads and a couple of other dishes that I thought were a bit odd initially, but were all delicious. After we waited for the boys to clean up, almost all of the Germans and Americans met and walked from the school to a hill that was around a 2 mile walk. While we walked to the hill, we had a speaker playing music and we sung along and danced all the way leaving us winded before we even hiked up the hill. As we went up, we gathered flowers and took pictures before reaching the top and taking pictures of the setting sun. We all had fun and climbed the rock formation at the top until we had to leave and it was one of the best days so far. Right before we left, we blasted the church clap and cotton eye joe and taught the germans the dances for those songs and a couple of us laughed so hard we couldn’t keep dancing. The next morning my legs were so sore from dancing and walking so far that it hurt a bit to walk, as did many other peoples’, but it was so incredibly worth it and we hope to go to the hill again during the farewell dinner.
