On May 25 we went to the Dechenhöhle cave. At first when I had arrived at the cave it was very rainy. When we had made it inside we walked around the museum and looked at all the cool artifacts and history of the caves themselves. Then when we escorted down to the cave you could feel the temperature drop and it slowly darkened. The tour guide told us the history of the cave when we got inside and said that it was found in 1868 when railroad workers stumbled upon it. When we explore the cave more it looked like something out of a movie. There were stalactites and stalagmites that have been forming over thousands of years. Then our tour guide explained more about the geology and scientific aspects of the cave. What made the experience really special was the atmosphere. It was cool and quiet, and you could hear the dripping water echo throughout the cave. The cave in general was an impressive experience that immersed me into Germany’s historic nature.
