One of the biggest differences between German and American culture, for me, is school. To start off with German school is a lot more free compared to American school. Doors normally aren’t locked and when you need to use the restroom you can just walk out. Parents are also free to enter and leave the school campus when they please. The other thing is that the separate classes/assignments don’t matter as much as they do in America, here in Germany you can use Ai a lot more frequently to help with classwork, sometimes students are even encouraged to use Ai if they don’t know the answer to a question. There are also breaks in between the classes that range from 15 to 30 minute long breaks and sometimes if a class gets cancelled or the teacher isn’t there then they can simply go home, so a few times my partner only had to go to 1, 1 and a half hour class for the day and then go home. As for grades, there aren’t really assignments, just participation grades in the class which accounts for %50 of their grade and then the other %50 is based on assessments. Also according to my partner if there is homework, it is legally not allowed to be graded. So school is pretty different.
