Personal Blog-Maastricht (George)

I was able to visit Maastricht, a city in the Netherlands, with my German exchange partner and his host family. Since we went on a Saturday, there was a large market going in in the city square, and I was able to buy some gifts for my family like food items such as waffles and clothes. The city was beautiful, filled with wonderful buildings at least three times as old as America with an architectural style similar to Germany and England but still resembling other European cities. One of the biggest things about the Netherlands that was clear as soon as we stepped across the border was everyone rides bikes all the time. There was hundreds of bikes parked just outside the market in discombobulated rows. Inside the market, we tried stroopwaffles and fries with mayo which where both delicious. A very important thing in the Netherlands is drinking coffee so you know we had to do that. Maastricht was a wonderful city and an unforgettable experience.
