Altena Castle 5/24/25 Abigale, Sawyer, Savannah

On Saturday, 5/24/25 everyone in the group visited the 900-year-old Altena castle, Made in 1100 AD. We all met there and split everyone into two groups and the tour guides took us to visit the rooms. First, we went to the living quarters where we saw paintings of the old kings and queens and learned about the funny things they had in the pictures to show their royal status, such as leather gloves, or a necklace with a charm of a sheep that showed he was in a very prestigious group. Then we went to the room that had fireplaces, and cutouts in the tower made for food to keep it cold. We then visited the various rooms that had old artifacts inside, such as old arsenals, hunting nets, armor, that some of the people got to try on. Then we all went to the old youth hostel area, where we saw the dining hall and a few of the rooms where the boys and girls stayed. afterwards we visited a cave down the road and toured there. It was such a cool experience to get to see and visit an actual castle.
